About Michal

Thanks for reaching out!

I am a college consultant located in the Capital District in Albany, NY. I meet with students and families from the Capital Region area face to face, and with out-of-state and international students via video conferencing, phone or other communication devices. I am happy to accommodate schedules, time zones, and any other potential needs.

I started my business in 2005 helping my own children navigate their own college admissions mazes. I familiarized myself with the essentials needed to create an application that opens doors. This process, experience taught me, is incredibly individual and has to be tailored to the specific characteristics of the students and the needs of their family. If there had been someone to help guide me through the obstacles, it would have made those periods of time much smoother. But through them I realized the importance of affordable individualized consulting, and realized how I could offer such a service.

Professionally, I  practiced as a lawyer specializing in family law and education law for many years, and I have dealt with children in many different situations. I also worked as a teacher and a tutor and have organized seminars on the college admission process all over the Capital Region.

As a professional, as well as a parent, I have a unique attitude and a patient approach towards children. I am able to convince them to cooperate with me, where they might usually not, through rational thinking and gentle suggestion. Both those qualities are a must navigating the college application process: they help the students to understand what they are facing, while feeling as though their voice is being heard and they are being understood as well. Thus they can concentrate on telling their story clearly and with passion, without getting caught in distractions. Deadlines, of course, are on our agenda too!

I have helped a great deal of students find their college fit and ace the college application process. Each one of them has worked very hard and been accepted to schools that fits their needs from all over the spectrum. Some of the colleges my students have been accepted to are below:

    * Small colleges like Fordham, Siena College, and Union College

    * Big research universities like Cornell, Columbia, Stanford, and Purdue

    * Special programs like Case Western Reserved, St. Bonaventure - combined medical program, and

    * Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute-management-law program

    * Graduate programs like Stanford, Carnegie Mellon, and Columbia

    * State schools like SUNY Binghamton, SUNY Stony Brook, UC Berkeley, UCLA, and Arizona State
